" alt=""> An ambigram is a phrase, word or symbol that can be interpreted from different perspectives. Erik Penser Bank’s monogram is a symmetric ambigram where EPB reads the same upside down. Penser is a man of classic tastes, tied to many of Sweden’s oldest and most respected institutions, but he and his bank are also at the forefront of complex financial investment in the future. Across all the diverse services on offer, it’s the personal touches that mean so many investors trust the bank with their money. Erik Penser Bank is an investment bank offering a wide selection of financial services to private and institutional clients, but with a personal touch that many of its competitors lack. While most banks are increasingly digital in their approach, Erik Penser Bank still understands the importance of bricks and mortar buildings and real people managing your funds. The core of the brand is built on classic Venetian type, using a custom-drawn antiqua to tie the assets together. This is complemented throughout by a set of bold, high-contrast numbers. The modern element of the brand comes from an angular word mark and rotationally symmetric ambigram that reads ‘EPB’ whether viewed from above or below. The looped monoline of the ambigram also informs a series of distinct illustrations that reference the bank’s products and services. A set of pictograms are used to illustrate the bank’s products and services. The looped monoline used in the pictograms derives from the monogram. Awards D&AD Awards, Wood Pencil Erik Text is a custom typeface designed exclusively for Erik Penser Bank. It is a low contrast antiqua designed for print and screen. The typeface was designed in close collaboration with type designer Íñigo López Vázquez. If you enjoyed this project for Erik Penser Bank we think you might like some of these related projects.
